Ill health retired applying for early pension
I am only mid-thirties, but I have a life changing and disabling injury. My GP has agreed that there is no way I can be a postperson ever again due to this. They have now signed my application form. I am already ill health retired. Pension is with scottish widow and the form has been sent off, hopefully it all gets approved. Anyone else in this situation or anyone who knows how long this process could take?

Re: Ill health retired applying for early pension
As far as I remember, early access of any pension, ie pre-55, has to be due to a terminal illness.
This has to be certified by 2 doctors agreeing on the end of that persons life within a 1 year timeframe.
If this is a complete disability scenario, (unable to work in any form) then the rules are probably different.
It has been a while since I looked at the law concerning this, and it may have changed.

I wish you all the best in the future, and am sorry you can't be a Postwoman any more at such a young age.
