Apologies in advance as I asked a similar question a while back, but my circumstances have changed.
Also used search function but no joy.
I want to increase my 6% pension payment to the maximum allowed to keep me in PSE.
I now work 18 hours a week so about 226 (I think delivery supplement is not included in calcs).
LEL is 123 currently- what percentage can I go up to to avoid dipping out of maximum benefit?
Ordinarily the calculation would be fairly easy- BUT, I've noticed with the strikes recently, having 1 day taken away (6 hours) takes me out of PSE. Another week I will stay in.
What might be the reason for that as it takes £80 off for the day, including delivery supplement, (226-80=146 so surely that would keep me over the LEL??)
I'm thinking 6% plus another 30% should keep me comfortably over the LEL and allow me some overtime without paying any tax or ni.
226 a week is pretty much smack on the personal allowance for both, so am I along the right lines?
Cheers.

Re: LEL
To stay within the limits for PSE, your hourly rate(basic pay) needs stay above the minimum wage. It's not connected to the LEL!
Use this bit of maths to help you:
RM hourly wage – minimum wage x contracted hours = max AVC payment.
Allowances, OT, etc aren't included in the equation.
Please bear in mind, there is a post PSE participation pay limit of £10,000.
For more in depth info about PSE, there's some Q&A's and a link to the PSE guide, here: https://www.myroyalmail.com/node/6791
The Lower Earnings Limit is how much you need to earn to qualify for certain state benefits, such as the state pension. The LEL is currently £123 per week / £533 per month.
You don't start paying NIC's (or income tax) until you hit the Primary Threshold, which is £242 per week / £1,048 per month / £12,570 per year.
