Pension supplements

Question for anyone in receipt of both 60&65 pensions and have not continued to work for RM. I have just received my first pension payments and neither include a supplement I have informed Capita I have left RM and was told supplement would be in month 2 payment. Unable to contact RMPP at the moment can anyone confirm I do get a supplement payment from them before I try and contact them again this week.

If you're in section C, have taken your pension/s and have left the company, you should be getting the supplement until you reach state pension age.

You're entitled to a supplement from both RMSPS and RMPP.

It sounds as if you've left recently?
In which case, they're not necessarily going to know that automatically, unless you told them of your plans during the application process.

As long as you're in section C, it's yes & yes.

Thanks Robert, I did confirm with RMPP I would be leaving RM employment during the numerous telephone conversations. I will contact them ASAP to find out why I have not received the supplement.

sorry to hijack the thread but if you take your pension and leave Royal mail i know you get the supplement. I take it that if you stay working at RM for a period of time after being in recipt of your pension, the supplement would not get added when you subsequently leave RM employment?

Took 2 months for the Supplement to be added to my RMSPS after leaving RM. And that involved contacting the CEO of Capita! And 4 months for RMPP to add the supplement. Though all was back dated when eventually paid.

That is a question no one knows the answer to. I have asked that before.

You get the supplement regardless of when you leave as long as it's before state pension age. Any delays in paying you will get back dated to the date you left.

I'm not sure what the confusion is!

This is what the RMPP website says:

What is the pension supplement?

If you joined the Plan on or after 1 April 1987, you’ll get an extra amount of pension each year. This is called the Pension Supplement and you will receive it if you take your Age60 or Age65 benefits before you reach your State Pension age. It is only paid if you are not employed by Royal Mail Group and it will stop when you reach your State Pension age. See the ‘Guide to your pension benefits’ for more details.
How is it calculated?
The Pension Supplement is calculated based on the first £3,328 of your annual salary. If you work part time, we convert this to the full time equivalent. To find out more, get in touch with the Pensions Service Centre (contact details below).

The RMSPS website says similar:

The pension supplement is payable to Section C members (those who joined between 1 April 1987 and 1 April 2008). It is paid if you retire before State Pension age and not in Royal Mail employment or if you retire early from Royal Mail, but before your State Pension age.
You can find out what your State Pension age is at www.gov.uk/state-pension-age. The pension supplement is not paid while you are working for Royal Mail and it stops once you reach State Pension age.

It's best to tell both RMSPS and RMPP when you leave, as I'm unsure whether it's done automatically?.
It will probably take a few months to be sorted, but it should be backdated to when you left.
It should stop when you reach SPA.

Always be proactive..
If you’re relying on the pensions (both)…DON’T.
Get best case dates if they’re not met chase them up again.
Until OUR pensions are administered by ONE player
don’t assume anything.
When the pension was in sole control it was less painful than now..

I think that's already been answered.

In that situation, when you leave you will be entitled to the supplement, as long as you're in section C and until state pension age.

It probably won't be triggered automatically, so you'll have to chase them them up.
