RMDCP MIN EE AFTER TAX?

Post by Osyduck »

Hello everyone,
I need the help of someone can someone please tell me why I am being deducted pension which is the RMDCP MIN EE of £12.87 past 2 week after tax in the deduction. I thought pension is to be taken before tax.

And I got pension being taken off this week but it was before tax which was
(PSE Adj RMDCP MIN -16.08)
(Arrears of PSE Adj RMDCP MIN -14.90). which is correct.

And this gets taken after tax

RMDCP MIN EE of £12.87 <- why this pension is this taken afterward?

Thank you

I assume you mean your pension contributions are on the left hand side of your payslip?

That's actually a good thing, as you're taking advantage of both tax relief and salary sacrifice(PSE). RM are actually paying your contributions instead of you, meaning both they and you save an amount of National Insurance contributions.

It means each £1 gross you pay(the amount on your payslip) only actually costs you 68p, with the taxman picking up the other 32p.

If you don't know how PSE works, then I suggest you read the guide, available here: https://www.myroyalmail.com/node/6791

But there is one pension contribution which is on the right side called RMDCP MIN EE which is taking £12.87 but should this not be on the left side. Please help as I thought this should be on the left?

Yes it should normally all appear on the left, however I've had this once or twice, once it got corrected without
me doing anything (computer error/fat fingers somewhere perhaps?), the other time I think I'd not timed a one off lump sum contribution
correctly (letter got delayed in the post :chuckle ) which took me over the PSE limit.

Has something changed in your working hours/contract/pension contribution (apart from the apparent
error) recently? Suggest your best option is to check with HR, local staff won't know.
