NRA60 Application Processing Time

Post by Guilf »

I intend to take my NRA60 on my 58th birthday in July. I emailed Capita last month, 4 months in advance of my birthday, to get the ball rolling. They have come back to me to say I can't apply until 3 months before my birthday. They also said they would keep my case open and write to me regarding my options 1 month ahead of my birthday.
My question is, how long does it take to process an application? Is 1 month enough time for me to apply and still start receiving my pension from my birthday? My expectation is that it will take much longer so not sure what their game is??

When I took my NRA60 at 55 and before COVID had arrived I hit delays with receiving my Pension. Mostly this was due to Capita and problems / delays with information from them being passed to RMPP. I had applied 4 months before my 55th birthday which then was the date advised by RMPP that I could apply. I was told on several occasions when delays started due to Capita that there is no guarantee that your NRA60 is paid on time unless you are turning 60. Now with Covid-19 I’m not sure which procedures are in place if any to ensure prompt payment :thumbup

I turned 60 in January and still have not received my pension.Absolute joke! The whole paperwork process started in September 2020 and finished in February 2021. I completed everything correctly and on time. So if they say you will only get it on time of you are actually 60-forget get you wont!

It almost makes me weep to read stories here of ex collegues not getting their pension to time.
I applied 6 months in advance and gave my pension date, every thing went smoothly and very well. I got all my monies to time.
My advice is to apply as early as you can, return all forms within the time frames they set and chase as needed.
If you don't get the answer you need when you ring, ring again and speak to some one else.

Cheers guys, thanks for sharing your experiences. I have only exchanged correspondence with Capita to date so I think I need to pick up the phone and push this along!

I phoned them at the beginning of the year and they sent all my paperwork out within the week. (You can start the ball rolling 3 months before your birthday) Filled that in, sent it back and got a letter confirming that my lump sum would be paid direct into my bank account and my pension would be paid quarterly in arrears. Will find out in a few days whether the lump sum goes in my bank or not or whether they wait until Friday and add it to my wages.
So keep on moving, moving, moving your feet
Keep on shuf-shuf-shuffling to this ghost dance beat
Just keep on walking down never ending streets

Happy Birthday.
Are you taking your NRA21 again?
