SIPP

Post by Thorby Bislam »

Never heard of these before but came across something about them today.
Can any more knowledgeable person explain what they are ?, in laymens terms please, and whether they'd be of interest to us. 'Us' being RM workforce ?. Can you transfer your RM pension into one if they're any good ?
Just spilt stain-remover down my shirt. Now how do I get that out?

SIPP - Self Invested Personal Pension.

It's a personal pension where you get to select your own funds - only for experienced investors.

It's 'generally' not a very good idea to transfer out of a final salary/salary based scheme as you get a 'guaranteed' pension based on your pay. Even if you leave before retirement it will still increase with inflation until you draw it.
