Once again we didn't ever vote on D2D as a separate issue. It was a small part of a bigger agreement.daveyeff wrote:I would like to ask....just out of interest. can ANY D.O. staff, who are foot posties...tell the truth....can you HONESTLY say, did you vote for unlimited D2Ds and lose money??.....if so....WHY???
However - it made no commercial sense to limit the number of D2D to 3 contracts/week. What business would do that?
Especially as mail is dropping?
If the number of contracts was going to increase it made sense for us to have it put into workload.
RM were not going to keep paying us for doing the same work twice - whether they stopped D2D or simply stopped the unit payment.
The delivery supplement for a lot of posties simply replaced the loss from D2D and in many cases was actually an improvement.
It is also paid on annual leave and on sick leave making budgeting a lot easier.
Some people seem unable to see further than their own DO. I never made £70/week from D2D - nothing like it.
The delivery supplement was initially slightly lower than I might have made on an average week but the fact I got it paid on annual leave covered that basic loss.
I was happy to see it go into workload.
Since its introduction I haven't seen any increase in the number of D2D contracts (in fact quite the opposite) while the Delivery Supplement has increased with every pay rise.
Like I said we never voted on D2D v DS as a single issue but if I had the chance I would plump for the DS every time.
It makes sense.
