The trustees have released the money to Royal Mail.
That's the beginning and end of their involvement.

Royal Mail have offered some of that money as part of the deal.
That's their decision, not the trustees.
If that is the case, I'd argue that the trustees have failed us.

They should look after our best interests.

Giving away a few million without knowing what it will be used for isn't confidence inspiring.

Possibly you could allay my fears by telling me why our Pension won't fail.
Everyone knows that (and I'll be kind) unconventional theories are built on the premise that you can't prove a negative Milly..

Prove that aliens don't exist.
Prove that the moon landings weren't a hoax.
Prove that the economic system isn't run by twelve shady blokes.
Prove that Santa isn't real.
Prove that my pension isn't at risk.

I'm afraid that when someone is swimming against the consensus the burden of proof* lies with them and the proof has to be set at a high bar to dislodge the accepted position.

That is basically how knowledge has evolved since we were sitting about in caves.

*Opinion whether mine, yours or someone else's on the Internet is of course only the sixth cousin twice removed of proof. They're barely related.

I have set out my reasons why our Pension can fail due to it's exposure to Government Debt, if interest rates go up the value of the Pension assets fall which means Pensioners can't be paid out.
Now explain to me why this won't or can't happen?
Considering our economy consumes more wealth than it creates which is why the Government is borrowing an extra £20 billion per month just keep things from collapsing.
Please try and answer this question minus the pseudo-waffle.

Are you always this combatative towards people Milly?
Is it the insomnia from constantly worrying about perilous position your pension is in that causes this aggression?
Stop worrying about things that are highly unlikely to happen. Life is too short.
Not aggressive in the slightest I have transferred much of my Pension and my AVC's into a private Pension, so I am doing what I can to mitigate the situation.
Maybe you are so wealthy that losing your Pension is no biggie, unfortunately I'm not in that situation.
Possibly you could allay my fears by telling me why our Pension won't fail.
Why bother you are a closed mind wrapped in your Doomsday theories that you have convince yourself are going to happen. If, in the most unlikeliest event that they do come true putting you pension in a SIPP won't be of much use we will be all up s**t creek without a paddle.
Convince me why it won't happen!
Convince me why it's okay for the Government to borrow £20 billion a month to cover it's spending!
I'm pretty amazed that you think things are okay what with interest rates sky rocketing and inflation out of control.
Maybe my investments will go down but I'm pretty happy that my Sipp has zero exposure to Government debt.
I look forward to your hypothesis of why I'm wrong and how everything is fine, it will be much appreciated if you could reply without the usual personal attacks.
Life in general is too short. Yours in particular will be shortened by the continual stress you put yourself under worrying about all these Doomsday scenarios you have whizzing around your head.
I'm surprised you haven't mentioned what Putin is up to and his continual threats of nuclear Armeggedon ....... no doubt you have made allowances for that with your future personal pension provisions?

Your type of attitude seems to be quite prevalent in this Country whereby you just ignore reality and hope for the best.
There's tens of thousands of people who thought interest rates were never going up who are now getting a nasty shock when their fixed rate ends.
The people who are going to be stressed are the ones who've taken no notice of what's happening in the World economy.

Rising Gilt yields have a devastating affect on Pension schemes, the higher they rise the liklihood of Pensions imploding increases.
The so-called financial experts said inflation was transitory and was nothing to worry about and they were dead wrong about that.
I do find it odd that you choose to ignore all the evidence of how bad things are getting for the average British Worker.
High Gilt Yields and high inflation are destroying our Pension but according to you it's nothing to worry about :hmmmm .

Yeah that's right.
No idea why you are being so dismissive of my views given that if you have worked for Royal Mail for a long period of time your Pension has already been drastically cut.
Personally I am down tens of thousands of pounds from what I ought of received from the final salary Pension.
Keep living in your fantasy World :cuppa .

I think the point is Milly no-one has all the answers or any inside knowledge on the financial situation especially you.

You're making decisions based on what you think is happening which is fine for you but you're lecturing others on your personal take which is not only dull, it's possibly bad advice.

You only have to look at the way experienced and trained people in the field of economics are jumping from one position to another to know that a postie on RMC does not have the answers. They're not doing it because they're thick or part of a deep conspiracy but because the situation is fluid.

It's fairly easy to see the direction of travel when our economy doesn't generate enough wealth to pay for it's liabilities.
More financial repression is on the way :whistle
You still can't seem to post anything without resorting to personal attacks :speak to the hand .
