Good luck in anything you do in the future Robert. You are still nice and young and a great example and inspiration to any of us who dream of an early retirement. Thank you for all your help and I sincerely hope you continue to post on this forum.

Re: And it's goodnight from him....
Congratulations in managing to ESCAPE this Shitty Company Robert.
Im sure literally thousands of posties have benefited from your sound advice over the years, which is something to be proud of.
Im sure you fall into that category of Veteran Posties who have seen these last round of ridiculous Revisions as "The straw that broke the camel's back"? We're losing a hell of a lot of Experienced Long Serving Posties and it's only to the detriment of the company.
Good Luck in the Future.

Isnt typical ? On the very complicated and important issue of pensions , all the help and sound advice doesn't come from the union or the management but from another postman. Both are totally useless in my opinion. Good luck Robert , have a long and happy retirement.

Re: And it's goodnight from him....
Thanks for all the comments. I'm glad I've been able to help a few people along the way.
But it seems I've made a guest re-appearance today – I couldn't help myself from answering a few queries!!!
Dorset: You're not far wrong! I did 36 years and jumped before the latest pile of sh!t hit the fan.
Wullie: I agree, the info from RM and CWU on pensions is very poor.
Highlander: Keep pedalling mate.
Wolfman: Thanks, it's early days but retirement is great so far.
Linntroika: I've always tried to give rounded information and encouraged people to then make their own choices. The biggest one being to take an interest in, and do something about their retirement as early as possible.

Robert, echo the comments of others.
I’m some way from retirement but still read the odd posts in this area of forum.
Your advice, guidance & signposting has been meticulous and I’m sure will be unmatched for some time.
Would’ve been great to have you as pension trustee.
Out of interest, how have you developed such breadth and depth of knowledge on all things RM Pensions?

Re: And it's goodnight from him....
I took an interest in pensions about 30 years ago but that was mainly for my own benefit and for what affected me. It was then I decided I wanted to retire early and also when I realised the RM pension alone wouldn't allow me to do that.
That was back when it was all final salary and had an NRA of 60!
I set about achieving my aims, and as a result I learnt a few things about pensions/investments along the way.
When this site came along, I had a platform to air what I'd learned. What I didn't already know, I looked up, which years ago would have been from bits of paper I'd kept, but more recently it's been from the internet.
All variations of RM pensions have websites where the vast majority of info can be found!
Most questions have been asked numerous times on here, so once you've answered them a couple of times, you don't really have to think about it.

Re: And it's goodnight from him....
I have just reached 55 and started the process of claiming my pension a few months ago. Your advice has been invaluable, I’ve read many of your posts and it’s answered my questions before I asked.
Have a great retirement.

Been away and just noticed this.
All the best wishes for your future. I took EVR back in 2011 at 58 but have always kept abreast of pension detail by reading your comments.
Forum has lost a valuable asset in terms of your vast knowledge of pension detail and your ability to explain in layman terms. You are going to be a very tough act to follow.

All the best RobertT
Always gave good sensible advice
The complete opposite of RM
Pensions are a confusing mine field for experts - so what chance do we have !!
