I did see a report on a News channel sometime over the last 2 or 3 weeks saying the Royal Mail is the first one to close a final salary scheme to current employees. All the rest have closed it for new employees, and INeOS are trying to do that at the moment (close to new).

Not many have a 3.5m or 5.5m black hole though. Might just make a smidgen of difference.

All have some sort of deficit because they all took big pension holidays but they are at least paying in to try to avoid what we're going through.

That's because not many are as big as RM's or have as many employees.

Dont be so hard on them tbt. If rm had taken the advice given by watsons some years ago we would not be losing our final salary scheme now, and what hurts even more is that rm paid them for the advice and then decided to ignore it.

Perhaps we should put extra fiver each (Us and RM) a week toward pension to protect it. Will that help ?

Him personally I don't think has had anything from our Pension - the Black Hole was a historical event before he got his position within RM and AFAIK RM had already started paying back in before be came aboard. Also and to me shockingly his pension is not linked into the same one as ours and therefore he is not affected as far as I know by the pension changes.
