NEW TAX CODE & PERIOD

Post by sfox123 »

Has anyone noticed a difference in their net pay ? Noticed the tax code has changed to reflect the new 2013-2014 allowance, but it hardly seems to be reflected in the net pay. Noticed tax period of 53/2013 on wage slip which seems odd given there is only 52 weeks in year, thought this might have something to do with it, or has NI gone up ?

Some pay years have 53 weeks in them, your new allowances will be on next weeks pay

OK, that makes some sense. I cancelled additional purchase of annual leave (poal) from this new tax year, and this has just taken effect on the latest pay slip (53/2013). I assumed this would happen at the same time as the tax allowance change though. Still can't fully get my head round why the new tax code is showing on the payslip though if it hasn't been applied . . . or is it skewed because "x" amount of tax has already been paid throughout the 53 week year ?

why would they change the tax code on 2012-13 when it applies 2013 - 14 you would be owed tax back .?
