MOYA VISIT TO BRISTOL

Could anybody please let me know why this visit to Bristol was open to early and late shift personnel, but night shift personnel were excluded or specifically not invited to attend this event. Staff at my mail centre would have like to attend but unfortunately we have been told that either the invitation was for early and late staff only OR according to the union the meeting was AD HOC and attendance was only agreed at the last moment, however staff here who did attend were informed almost a week before the event. Strange the union seems to have this one wrong? Will Moya be arranging tomeet and greet night shift staff at a later date?

Does anyone have any information on whether the Bristol strikes were discussed, the reason for the strikes including bullying and harassment. What did Moya have to say and were those who were out on strike given any hope for the future.

I know people that went.There was only a 35min or so question and answer session,the rest of the time was spent watching performances by the choir from the BBC2 show,and another choir from somewhere or other?

The people I spoke to said it was a total waste of time,and nothing of any merit was brought up,in other words typical RM....

Bearing in mind the problems at Bristol SEDO i'm surprised and disappointed anyone showed up.
I suppose that's what counts for solidarity these days,bought off with the chance of a skive and a sing song.

You misunderstand.I don't work at Bristol,the meeting was open to all southwest region staff,and the people I spoke to are based 80 miles away...

According to our managers the meeting was definitely NOT open to all South West Staff. Night Shift here were actively excluded.

Well at best you could argue that it's possible some of those attending may not have known about the issues affecting Bristol SEDO but really...most in the room would have been from the Bristol area,would have known and even if they didn't they still turned up to listen to the propaganda machine basically for a skive and a sing song.

Nothing new there.... Our Night Staff are STILL waiting for a representative of the WCM to appear in one of their WTL&L sessions.

Thankfully, I swapped shifts two weeks ago OFF of nights.....

Most of the peole that went were wannabe managers and general brownosers,so no chance of any tough questions being asked.No "real" staff would of gone,simply because we all know its just a PR stunt for the Courier.I've no idea wether any "difficult" questions were asked,somehow i doubt it.Certainly no CWU from my MC went....

She probably would have fobbed off anyone who asked difficult questions. But I suppose it would have been worth trying, rather than letting the brown nosers ask all the questions. Just to see her squirm.

Sorry to say this Lkhardyuk but I work in Portsmouth MC and four of our staff were invited to attend so it was open to all South West Area staff
