I've just heard on the Grapevine that the old motorola plant in Livingston is being used to sort mail. does anyone have
ant info on this?

About the job

December is, naturally, a very busy time of year for Royal Mail. To help us handle the increased volumes of mail we require casual workers to help with sorting in our processing and distribution centers.

Sorting the mail is an important task; the first step to ensuring all those Christmas cards and presents get delivered to the right address!

This type of role involves:

•Sorting items by hand into compartments on a sorting frame
•Bagging and labeling mail for its destination
•Moving mail around the office between conveyor belts, loading docks and trolleys
•Moving mailbags from cages, sorting mailbags and bundles of mail into cages
•Loading and unloading wheeled containers from vehicles to the dispatch areas
Pay Rates per hour :

Age 16 £3.97
Age 17 £4.62
Age 18 and over £5.95

Typical Shift patterns :

Early - 6am - 2pm
Late - 2pm- 10pm
Nights - 10pm - 6am

Please note that shift times may vary from those stated.



You'll need to be:
•Punctual and reliable
•Able to work to tight deadlines
•Flexible and adaptable as you are likely to undertake several different tasks in one shift
•Able to lift and carry mailbags and boxes weighing up to 11kg and to push containers weighing up to 250kg
•Able to stand for long periods of time

22 redskins of 2nd class packets sent on Sunday and more 2nd class packets sent on Monday from G.M.C. Manager from G.M.C. is working there at the moment so the place is up and running but it not Livingstone its Bathgate.

From now until after the pressure G M C will not be 2nd class that will be going to the outhouse ,just left work and their is a 40 footer full of 2nd class with more waiting on the platform

motorola up and running with EH MC mail someone thought good idea to send op mail for casuals to do then brought it back and sent out local mail ( thick as sh.t.e) i heard early shift manager ( DC) was working out there with female early manager that just won her appeal for sick attendance (DT) will be checked 2morrow to see if strike breakers are there. :no no

I think it is a cert that there are strike breakers out there working including those members of that proud strong trade union ,UNITE, shame on you Royal Mail managers,you know who you are and just remember if they get rid of us who do you think will be next ?

Yip its up & running the Broxburn/Bathgate d/o was hoatchin wi managers this morning .
The heed honcho in east of scotland ,his no 2 ,some guys fae the borders,Geordieland & the west of scot were all in ,wi their I'm a manager jackets oan .
Oor DIMs are keepin quiet sayin nothin aboot the Motorolla site .

I'll see what we can dig up for you mail centre guys
