Re: mail centre supernumerays
My best theory is nothing will happen until the Network changes then for myself and all other Supernumeraries then Royal Mail will try and assist us out the door

Re: mail centre supernumerays
Called them all in the office at our mail centre last week and offered them all VR. Most are taking it. They are waiting for a date now.

Not sure about other shifts but ours have between none & 10 per night I would say, without Xmas pressure.

Re: mail centre supernumerays
I would've bitten their hand off if I was offered VR from Delivery. Every single one of them should take it.
I genuinely wonder why they weren't offered a move to Delivery as another option.

Re: mail centre supernumerays
How are staff designated as 'supernumary'. Is it on seniority or do managers choose people, and if so, on what basis?

Re: mail centre supernumerays
If they didn't choose a duty during the resign or if there was no more duties left in the resign by the time they were reached, they were made supernumerary

Re: mail centre supernumerays
OK thanks for the explanation guys. I suppose that means it is mostly on seniority if there aren't any duties left when it is their turn to sign.

Re: mail centre supernumerays
At the MC I previously worked at they dropped a lot of duties that were not "normal".
All the 3 and 4 day duties went because they were fixated on making all duties the same.
Theses duties were mostly held by senior men/women with upwards of 30 years service!
Before I retired most of the supernumarys had taken the 5 day duties that had been offered.

Re: mail centre supernumerays
We still have a few staff on 3 and 4 night duties. Think it's only a matter of time before they're not given any choice but to move over to 5 night dutiesmidegarelu wrote: ↑07 Dec 2023, 19:25At the MC I previously worked at they dropped a lot of duties that were not "normal".

Re: mail centre supernumerays
Sounds about right for this company these days, they're hellbent on eroding anything that's attractive about the job like those nice 3 and 4 day attendance patterns.SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑07 Dec 2023, 19:49We still have a few staff on 3 and 4 night duties. Re: mail centre supernumerays
Another question. Does this apply to only full time staff, or part time also?
Are people who were on mainly late and night duties (the majority in MCs) expected to reorganise their lives and go on early duties in Deliveries?
