wearing a mask

Post by teesdale »

about half not wearing a mask but health and safety cwu reps complaining that some not wearing a mask. Many people I noticed practise 2/3m safe distance so why over react when you have to live again at some point, especially after 2 vaccinations. Keeping a distance, no work time learnings or avoiding small rooms is the concensus. Give it a rest cwu bristol mail centre mind police.

Mask are uncomfortable but if they prevent transmission then why wouldn’t you wear one?
10% suffer long Covid who is gonna pay the bills if you are unable to work?
Your pay drops after 6 months and Royal Mail will write you off after 12.

Makes sense to both employer and employees to wear one
It is not about getting a life it’s about maintaining one.

You do know that you can still catch covid even with 2 vaccinations why take the chance.

I suppose the question is when will ever be the right time to stop wearing a mask?

It would be good if the population were guided into wearing masks by public bodies if ever they get a sniffle or feel a bit peaky but that opportunity has been lost….

I’m watching the footie with 45000 people and not one is wearing a mask. They will be mixing in communal areas, on transport and getting food and drink together indoors. How on earth can you convince them to wear one at work after?

Mask wearing will inevitably drop away but while it's still a thing why moan about having to do it?

It's uncomfortable but It's not painful. It's not a huge sacrifice, some people just seem to like to moan about anything they're asked/told to do at work.

Masks don't stop you from catching it, only from spreading it

That's a counterintuitive argument.

If there are two people in a room and both are wearing a mask it obviously stops you spreading it and catching it.

What I found interesting throughout the pandemic was how with some companies the workers would continually be wearing a mask whilst on delivery. Thankfully there was no such apparent enforcement with us. (Sorry, just realised this thread is in relation to indoors, but nevertheless..)

Have you any scientific evidence for such a claim , because.there is a welter of evidence to the contrary.

You don't need scientific evidence.
A little intelligent thought is enough..
Think about it a little harder...
And what is a welter?

The masks don't STOP anything. They may reduce the chances of spreading or catching...

Again a counterintuitive argument.
If you've reduced the chances of spreading or catching something then for some people by definition you've STOPPED transmission between these people. You haven't stopped it for everyone but there are few absolutes in anything.

Nothing wrong with a counterintuitive argument. It helps with seeing the bigger picture...

Have been starting early this week. It`s a small office, so distancing is a problem. Nevertheless, only about half a dozen of us are wearing masks when prepping , and not even the DOM is wearing one. Masks in vans seems to have stopped, and this is even when one person is off with a positive covid test. I despair.
