Capacity at Watford MC
So Hemel & Mk will be losing (some or all) 2nd class to Watford. Is Stevenage in the frame as well?Bromhamhatter wrote:Looks like its curtains for Milton Keynes MLC,we are about to lose our 2nd class to Watford.Just the begining of the end.
The real question I'd like to raise is does Watford have the capacity and the space to cope with this work?
And what sort of machinery does Watford have at present. I know they acquired an IMP when they were first introduced but what else have they got?
Judging by Google Maps the Watford site is the largest of the 4 but is it big enough?
WATFORD MC & DO
MILTON KEYNES MC
HEMEL MC/ & DO

I thought Stevenage was only a DO these days

I've heard there is going to be a 'super MC' in kent, I think there are 4 at the moment, Canterbury, Tonbridge, Maidstone & Dartford, don't think Canterbury or Tonbridge will be replaced as they have'nt got the motorway links. Maidstone will go but maybe just moved to another site as the council have plans for the adjacent land, not sure about Dartford, is'nt there something being built at Thurrock? that would cover that end of the county. RM will probably shut them all down and build somewhere like Ashford (apparently quite a few Area Managers live in Ashford) on a flood plain.bandit650 wrote:Canterbury Mail Centre is rumoured to be going in about 3 years its small but its been pretty good in its time.

Its a pity they did'nt all drown on that flood plain and do us all a big favour thing is they are a bit short sited putting all thier eggs in one basket like they have done so many times before, its all gone pear shape when they have done it they never look at the bigger picture, its all down to money sod the service.

Oxon, is Oxford Mail Centre genuinely under threat, now that Gloucester Mail Centre has been reprieved? Surely as it is a better performing centre (as all others are!) than Bristol Mail Centre, it would make more sense to keep it going.

Oxford is going to close down because of its hard liner union. Oxford has one of the worst trade relation around this area. Blackwell ( worlds famous book seller) , Oxford university and Jorden Hill printing industrial park are glad to see the end of Oxford mail centre becasue its union has done so much damaged to their business. Oxford mail centre union has so many warnings ... but they shut thier eyes... and now the big End is comming . Union reps do not give a damn because they are all on retiring age.. its young ones who have big loans and mordgage . (around £1000 per month).
