It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Re: Sign in Sign out machine
One question is this a form of Victimisation as these machines are not being used in a) Walks and Deliveries b) DIstribution so people who work in the same place in different functions are going to treated differently.(Especially when Drivers who start 2 hours after me duty wise walk out the building in front of me on the same 5 day duty structure as myself)

Re: Sign in Sign out machine
They'll have to have them in the entrance hallways locally as we don't have any walls that aren't walkways where they could be placed. All the walls are either storage areas or work areas

Re: Sign in Sign out machine
Started last month in our place
Will catch people who work their breaks and any who have SA's that have an unpaid gap in them.
Any starts or finishes outside their duty time are flagged up.
Managers will be obsessed by any "lost time" in your duty

They're much smaller than I thought, ours go live next week. Looks like they've possibly got a camera built it into them.

I've looked at ours (we're not live yet) and yes there is a built in camera on the side.
I've checked with line manager and CWU rep neither of whom know anything about it.
I can only assume that it's there to cut down on fraudulent use i.e. Fred clocking out Billy who went home an hour ago.
It could also prevent people from nefariously clocking out someone else using their pay number as part of a grudge.

They're going to be a nightmare during Xmas pressure when you've got a long queue of causals/agency having to type their pay numbers in. In each MC there needs to be a couple of the machines that are purely for use with the ID cards only during Xmas pressure

There’s definitely another camera there. I looked after I read the comment.

Re: Sign in Sign out machine
The bit that reads the card isn't a camera as it reads the cards ok even when the photo id side isn't facing the scanner. More likely it reads the RFID type chip in the card

Last I heard Christmas casuals are not going to be asked to use the system as the system currently can't process their information.SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑17 Oct 2021, 23:18They're going to be a nightmare during Xmas pressure when you've got a long queue of causals/agency having to type their pay numbers in. Sorry it's taken so long to get back - kept forgetting to take photo.
