I think he is having a laugh I was in the forces for 16 years and Royal Mail 5 years and I have never heard of this - although it would be a good PH. Send him to the Callers office for a Long weight if he tries it again.

Actually,if i'm right this is true,or at least used to be as the holiday bits have been changed.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Queen's Birthday

Post by baldrick »

Just talking about this at work today.
Yes we used to get a day's leave for the Queen's Birthday, and a Xmas Priviledge Day (which could be taken on Christmas Eve or the day after Boxing Day), and a half day for Maundy Thursday, which were usually added on to your Annual leave the following winter.
Don't know the historic reason for the Maundy Thursday half day - these were carried over to the following year so you got a full day every second year.
But these days were scrapped after the Way Forward Agreement in 2000, and were added on to the basic 4 weeks annual leave, so new starters now get 4 and a half weeks leave.
