Overtime compulsory?

Hi I've just been accepted onto a new six month fixed term contract with 24 hours a week. I've had a call from my new line manager saying that part timers will work six hours a day five days a week to make things easier rather than 24 hours over four days and that I will get six hours overtime. The trouble is I don't want the overtime I'd prefer the time off and wondered if it would cause waves if I said so. I start the job next week and don't want to cause a scene and am looking to go with the flow until Christmas and then see what happens from there? I'd appreciate some advice on whether I am being unreasonable on this or whether it'll be okay? Thanks

Overtime is not compulsory no and don't feel like you have to do it.Your contracted hours are 24 and if that's all you can do then that's all you can do.Dont feel pressured.
