So have any of you fellow posties heard anything regarding the cuts, also if anyone could shed some light on the `one week off every five weeks` that would be great..

Job cuts...
Ok so, this morning Royal Mail announced that it`s making cuts and it just so happens that this morning I had an email giving me my start date
. Obviously I`m very worried about taking this job because of these announcements this morning. I`m full aware that it won`t effect frontline postmen/women but it still gets you thinking. I currently work fulltime and looking to get out to be a postie. Anyone out there that could have a few reassuring words for me would be great. Also my contract is 28 hours per week, with one week off every five weeks, how the hell does that work?

You work 6 days a week for 4 weeks and then get the next one off

Re: Job cuts...
Yes, you get paid 28 hours every week, but your office is on the Wallington system where full timers work five six-day weeks on then one week off instead of the usual five days on and one day off every week, and you work proportionately as a part timer.chris_pea wrote:So basically I won`t pick up 28 hours money a week will I?
Work hard and your job will be safe.
