overtime
i joined the royalmail as a foot soldier postie just over 2 months ago, im on a 24 hour aweek contract, 24 hours on £8.58 an hour isnt enough to live on,the manager has only offered more walking and to be honest after 4 hours im knackered, could i ask for driving duties in the afternoon to earn a little extra or is that all stitched up for the full time staff ? i do feel a divide between the part timers and full timers, i would say 70% of full timers dont even acknowledge me . .

Re: overtime
You could ask, they can always say no. Problem is in a DO its usually the walking deliveries that need covering more than the driving ones. Also you would need to have undergone changeover driver training or you can't drive for Royal Mail.manc postie 2013 wrote:i joined the royalmail as a foot soldier postie just over 2 months ago, im on a 24 hour aweek contract, 24 hours on £8.58 an hour isnt enough to live on,the manager has only offered more walking and to be honest after 4 hours im knackered, could i ask for driving duties in the afternoon to earn a little extra or is that all stitched up for the full time staff ? i do feel a divide between the part timers and full timers, i would say 70% of full timers dont even acknowledge me . .
You could ask whoever is in charge of collections if you can drive and get some overtime there, or work in the callers office, or even ask at an MC if there is one close enough.
