Help plz!

Post by Barbel »

I've just received my contract in the post today with various other forms to fill in and send back. One of the forms 'Agreement to work additional hours' which I must sign to opt out if I want to work more than an average of 48 hours a week. My contract is a fixed contract for 30 hours a week for 6 months so I'm not sure whether this applies to me or not. I wouldn't mind doing any overtime that I may be offered but if I don't sign this form am I more or less saying I'm not interested in overtime? Sorry but I'm a bit confused as to whether signing would be a good thing or not. :nervous

No you will still be offered overtime dont worry.

I didn't sign it as I don't want that much overtime. But it is basically Royal Mail complying with eu law about working hours that's all.

It's just an opt out form for the working time regulations.
Signing it doesn't obligate you to anything.
Not signing it technically means you can't be forced to work more than 48hrs a week but even that is an average over a 17 week period so it's unlikely to be an issue.
good times, bad times you know I've had my share
