I am a retired Postman aged 81 with 35 years service. I retired in 1991. I am now finding that I am becoming increasingly immobile. I recently had a total left knee replacement, neccessitated by the wear-and-tear on my joints during my years of service. My surgeon informs me that my right knee and hip will also need to be attended to. My question is: can you suggest what I might do to seek financial help from the Post Office? I feel that the quality of my life is being severely curtailed. Any helpful advice will be greatly appreciated. Many thanks.

Most certainly this is NOT a wind-up! I joined this site hoping to find understanding and advice, not to be dismissed off-hand. I hope if you experience a problem, colleagues will be more ready to offer helpful advice to you than you are to me.

the rowland hill benevolent fund is for people in your situation. i know of postman who have had great help from said orginisation. i wish you well in the future and hope you get the help you deserve
