Hello there,
I have worked in the same small delivery office in Hampshire for 30 yrs now. Our office has generally been ignored by management and generally speaking changes that take place nationally tend to reach us just about at the time they are being replaced by something else.
This is still happening! We have also been a dumping ground for "dead end managers".
Despite all this we always maintained an efficient & friendly service in a fairly relaxed atmosphere.
This latter has certainly changed since budgets have now been placed before service. It is no surprise to me at all that we are now in dispute mode because we have been working under a 19th century worker/management scheme for some time now. The probability that the government are manipulating the RM management into trying to derecognise the CWU only seves to set this scheme in concrete.
Indeed, if this is the case, how will any union member of any description ever have confidence again that a Labour government will be in any way sympathetic to their hopes of maintaining a meaningful negotiating position? Do they really think they can rely on union money by behaving like this?
If I could find other employment I would be gone tomorrow- my 7 yr old daughter gets more respect from her teacher!
