FSS and PSS

Post by billyhayes »

What do people think of the FSS and PSS roles?

Personally, I fear for them...

Having seen the targets they are given, I think the only winner will be the post office.

In my office, they are putting on a brave face and using all the usual bullshite middle-management taught crap in WTL, but on a one-to-one when no-one else is about they are in agreement that they are under extreme pressure, and when pressed on this point one even cried about it!

They are not even guaranteed their old positions back if they are not up to scratch, yet another way in which the PO can cut duties.

The worst thing about the whole debacle is that they were not told what the job entailed EXACTLY and what the targets were until they were confirmed in the position.

Are these people effing mugs!?

Who takes a job not knowing WHAT the job is!? Talk about eyes-wide-shut!!

I am torn between feeling sorry for them :cry and wanting to give them a slap for their own short-sightedness :d'oh!

If any of our RM brothers and sisters want to know what I'm talking about, there is too much information to type here, but I'm sure one of the site-admins can provide a link as i'm not all that up with t'internet.

In a nutshell...

Financial Services Specialist = Insurance products, credit cards, savings etc

Product Sales Specialist = focus on one thing ie foreign exchange or 'telephony' :left:

just as an update on this, our FSS's are under mounting pressure to reach impossible personal targets.

At first it was all "you're the best! the elite!" etc etc now the area FSS manager is distancing themselves from them, leaving them out on a limb.

Still, you reap what you sow. At the start of this topic I posted in January that is wasn't all wine and roses.

I'm just suprised the backlash took this long to be honest.

The only reason FSS's got the job in first place was because of brown nosing managment, so if they have been shafted with unrealistic targets then so what!!

Not sure I agree with all of the sentiments expressed so far on this subject! But the FSS's in particular have a very difficult job, especially with regard to their targets - which do seem pretty big. If you added together the targets of our office FSS's the required sales would far exceed the overall office target, which does put pressure on them. It is also very true that they weren't given full details of job description and targets when they went for the jobs, and in fact one of ours refused to sign his contract until he was given those details, which seems fair to me.
