The NFSP has issued a joint statement with two unions representing Post Office employees in reponse to Post Office Ltd's annual report and accounts:
Following publication today of Post Office Ltd’s Annual Report and Accounts, the three organisations representing those who work in the Post Office have taken the unprecedented step of issuing a joint statement today expressing their belief that the results demonstrate a major threat to the sustainability of the post office network.
The Communication Workers Union (CWU), the National Federation of SubPostmasters (NFSP) and Unite said:
“The continued fall in revenue for the Post Office revealed by these results is of great concern to all those who work in the Post Office, and for the millions of customers and small businesses who rely upon the vital services post offices provide.
“The Post Office has been let down by the government, which has continually failed to fulfil its promises to reverse the decline in the business. We are calling on ministers to respond to these results and ensure that urgent action is taken to address the growing crisis facing Post Office Ltd and the national network of post offices.
“We are also calling on the Post Office to ensure that they remedy their recent failures, to secure the network for the future and not simply adopt a strategy of managed decline.”
