Further to LTB.876/07 (4th October 2007) POL Crown Offices - National Briefing, please find attached a revised pay offer letter from POL. Whilst some progress has been made this has been insufficient in a number of crucial areas and, consequently, the Union's negotiating team have no option other than to reject the offer for many reasons, including the following
POL has failed to address the issue of a pensionable pay increase for Deputy Branch Managers (DBM) and Postal Officers (POs) - 80% of our members.
POL still intends to cease paying Saturday Premium; a significant pensionable allowance and a major part of members overall earnings.
The offer is conditional upon the CWU accepting the proposed changes to the Royal Mail Group pension scheme.
POL intend to brief our members at Work Time Learning sessions tomorrow where they will be provided with a copy of a leaflet (attached below) that includes a letter from Alan Cook, Managing Director, explaining the offer from POL's perspective.
As previously notified, the Union has organised a national briefing for Friday 12th October, in Birmingham, to discuss the rejected pay offer and our next steps. It is essential that all Branches with Crown Office members attend this national briefing.
It is the negotiating teams belief that further industrial action will be inevitable due to the aforementioned reasons given for rejection of the offer. Branches are, therefore, urged in the intervening three days to consult with as many members as possible to gauge their views so that they are able to give a full and detailed report on their members' attitude to the pay offer.
Further direct communications to members and, a more detailed analysis and critique of the pay offer will follow the national briefing. Whilst we have built a substantial national electronic mailing list over the course of the current dispute, in view of industrial action within Royal Mail and the impact that this will have on direct mailings to members, branches are asked to urgently provide email details of POL Crown Office members to the department at polpay2007@cwu.org .
Further developments will be reported in due course. All Branches with POL members are instructed to ensure that the details of this LTB are given the widest possible circulation amongst POL Crown Office members.
For further information please contact nchilds@cwu.org
Yours sincerely
Andy Furey
Assistant Secretary

POL Crown Offices - Rejection of revised pay offer
I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
