Post Office bosses forced behind the counter to cope with strike

POST Office bosses were forced to go behind the counters after staff took industrial action at Sunderland’s central branch.

Members of the Communication Workers’ Union at the Fawcett Street branch walked out on a half-day stoppage yesterday afternoon in a row over pay. The union had hoped the strike would mean the branch had to close – but spokesman Steve Keeley said it was still pleased with the response from members.

“The Post Office stayed open,” he told the Echo. “But that was only due to managers turning up. We had an excellent response from staff, with a turn-out of about 95 per cent.”

The union expects to announce details of more action shortly.

“There is likely to be an announcement in the next couple of weeks,” said Mr Keeley.

I wonder how many of those managers collapsed into their chaise longues after doing a proper days work for a change?

I hope they were all slightly more adept at dealing with PO card account withdrawals than they are at running a business. (Lazy salary stealing charlatans).

Not all managers are working on the counter some are refusing in support of their counter colleagues so please don't tar everyone with the same brush
