CWU leaders have taken the decision to cancel further strike action as Post Office bosses request a meeting to resolve the dispute.
Union leaders are hopeful that a resolution to the escalating dispute is in sight as a letter received today from Kevin Gilliland, Network and Sales Director for the Post Office invites the CWU to talks next week.
Following the success of industrial action taken by members in Crown Post Offices around the country last Saturday, union bosses had planned a second wave of action for the 12th April with the intention to serve formal notice on the business today (Friday).
CWU national official, Andy Furey, said: "As a consequence of the letter received from the Post Office's Kevin Gilliland today we've taken the decision not to service notice on the business for further strike action and have taken the business up on their offer to meet for talks.
"We will of course keep members up to date," said Andy.
