Post office missold delivery product

I was working in the callers office yesterday when this old lady came in to tell me that
a parcel she posted back in April to Australia via surface post had not arrived.
I talked to her about when & where she had posted and she got round to telling me
she had went to the post office and asked for the cheapest option for posting the item valued at £75.
She was told Global economy Parcelforce and was quoted about £43.
She left but said she would phone parcelforce and also get her daughter to check if it was being held in customs.
I went home and then checked RM's prices and found out that she could've sent it international signed for or airsure
for approx £35 which would have arrived within 5 days or gone for international signed for surface mail for £22.

Do post office owners get any % commission for selling delviery products because that old lady was robbed of over £21
by this post office.

Anything over 2 kilos and she's shite out of luck...

depends on size too, >90cm and its too big for small packets.
However Global economy is sent at senders risk no compo available
also what was timescale for sending iem? surface can take a very long time
