I put her straight that even tho it is NOT guaranteed for Sat delivery, they are still treated like Gold and are still priority and they always do get delivered.
Well at least in the DO's i've worked in.
Bit of a con me thinks.
Yes it is now a yellow Saturday Guaranteed surcharge. And although we do go out of our way to deliver on Saturday they are certainly NOT necessarily delivered, as Saturday isn't a normal working day.POSTMAN wrote:Sent a reg today(Friday),the SPO gal (Who knows i'm a postie as i use her PO for bag drops) told me that it would not be guaranteed for Sat del unless i payed £2.00 extra

As you should know SD is the cheapest and most reliable GUARANTEED next day service available in the UK and provided from your own Business yet you choose to publicly slate it.
Even at £6.30 for Saturday it is still mucho cheaper than the alternatives that have a much lower sucsess rate.
Shame on you for dissing such a sucessful product.
They are the nuts and bolts of our monthly pay, if your negativity spreads on this then best of luck acheiving ANY form of pay increase.
The old saying is true, never bite the hand that feeds you.
No, additional charge for an extra guarantee. Friday post was guaranteed for Monday. You'd be surprised at how many people are happy to use it.POSTMAN wrote:Conning the customers!!armani wrote:Postman, I am shocked.POSTMAN wrote:Sent a reg today(Friday),the SPO gal (Who knows i'm a postie as i use her PO for bag drops) told me that it would not be guaranteed for Sat del unless i payed £2.00 extra

If the firm is closed then a P739 is written and SD is marked as so, maybe my DUM was lying to mebaldrick wrote:As I understood it Saturday delivery isn't guaranteed for Specials because if it is

Armani if we see something that we think is wrong then we point it out, if your conscience can't handle this then so be it. However, if I see something I think is dodgy I will report it higher up the chain and on sites such as this. Our responsibility is not just to Royal Mail but our own conscience and the public in general.armani wrote:No, additional charge for an extra guarantee. Friday post was guaranteed for Monday. I'd put the 739 through the letter box but we gun the firms to 001H on Saturday and then stick em out on Monday. Even if the firm has a Saturday Guaranteed sticker we still hold it over because they are closed so really it's money for old rope.POSTMAN wrote:How different offices/DIM's are.disgruntledpostie1 wrote:If the firm is closed then a P739 is written and SD is marked as so, maybe my DUM was lying to mebaldrick wrote:As I understood it Saturday delivery isn't guaranteed for Specials because if it is

At our place they are not put out, they go on a monday.
How can you 739 firms that are closed on a Sat!!!!
We were always told that Specials posted on Friday were only guaranteed for Monday, but that an attempt was made to deliver them on saturdays. We were told that there was no guarantee that it would be delivered on a Saturday because Royal Mail do not class Saturday as a working day. My team tell people this, and that for the extra £2 they can guarantee a delivery on Saturday, but they check first that there will be someone there to sign for it, for obvious reasons. It always makes us laugh that it isn't a working day, especially as we are open until 5:30 on a Saturday! It is also quite hard to explain to customers.POSTMAN wrote:Sent a reg today(Friday),the SPO gal (Who knows i'm a postie as i use her PO for bag drops) told me that it would not be guaranteed for Sat del unless i payed £2.00 extra

I can say from personal experience that there isn't much of a check made in some cases. I get up to 10 Sat Gs when there is no one to sign at the business on a Saturday - if possible in those cases we would leave a 739 to say we had attempted delivery.bigjames wrote:We were always told that Specials posted on Friday were only guaranteed for Monday, but that an attempt was made to deliver them on saturdays.
