Holiday rota

Post by jjayy »

i am trying to book a holiday for next year, 9 on 1 holiday rota therefore only once in 9 years am i guaranteed to get the holiday dates i want. Every year there is a number of weeks up for summer effiecientcy (FIRST COME FIRST SERVED) but these go quick - never notified when can book these. i was no. 8 on holiday rota last year, this year I'm no.4. Ive got young kids of 5 and 9 and its really difficult to get time off in the holidays - even worse the holiday list doesnt usually go round until dec/jan time. Usually means i have to end up taking my kids out of school so that we can have a summer holiday together. Surely this doesnt bode too well with so called government family friendly holiday policies. can i do anything about this?

How many people, including Financial Specialists and Managers, work at your office, and how many Full Time and Part Time staff do you have?

It does not sound like you have a fair system of picking annual leave if you are not aware when it is available. You should contact your CWU Area rep who can have a look at your selection process and also whether there is enough 'available weeks' included in your rotation. This will depend on how many full and part-timers you have and the 'leave reserve' calculation.

its just a small office - 1 manager (who always takes holidays whenever he likes) my duty gets patsyied in summer but for some reason this is still happening even now the holidays are over. Think there is a re-sign due as we are 2 men down, but as our current manager is temporary that doesnt seem to be getting sorted either.
