Royal Mail have now stolen sorry cherry picked 2 of 'my' business customers costing me a quarter of next years income.
They will collect from their premises FREE and slash posting rates.
How do I stand a chance no consultation nothing just gone overnight.
Why can I not offer these lower rates?
Surely this is a restrictive practise ?
I wonder if this was the result of "watch and win".
Wouldn't it be ironic if a bonus was being earned by a Royal Mail spotter!
its a dog eat dog company.
I am guessing that you are a Sub Post Office, and I don't know if the same set up applies for you, but with Crowns there is an understanding with Royal Mail, that they will not (or should not at least) approach business customers with a view to moving them over to direct dealing with Royal Mail. The idea is that the income for the Royal Mail Group is much the same whether they do the business direct or in branch. However, if the customer themselves approaches Royal Mail, they are obliged to make the customer aware of any and all special offers, rates and deals that are available, and it would be wrong of them not to, as it is in the interests of the customer to get them the best deals. Did your customers make the first move? or were they approached by Royal Mail? If Royal Mail made the approach, you have grounds for a complaint, and I guess your BDM, or whatever they are called would be the first point of call with that. The only thing is, once the customer has gone over to Royal Mail's cheaper deals they are not coming back, so the best you can hope for is to stop Royal Mail doing it again. If the customer made the first move, sadly, there's not a lot you can do.

is this the watch and win where you can earn some "points"?
Big James, you say there's an understanding between RM and Crown that RM won't poach customers. A year or so ago though (maybe a little longer) I remember reading in whichever magazine we all used to get, RM making a big deal about one RM guy who earned himself bonuses by picking up business for RM by passing on details of businesses he came across on his rounds, and who then signed up after being approcahed by RM. Has this policy changed then ?
"Watch and win" is still being promoted in work time sessions.
We never heard that anything was off limits?
I rarely have time to scratch my elbow let alone poach customers ?
anybody else find it bizarre that people employed in rm sales
are sat waiting for postman generated leads?

I was told this at an Express Mails event by one of the POL Client Managers who deals with Royal Mail. It was in answer to yet more cases of Royal Mail taking business away from counters. How many times have we had targets set based on large amounts of business coming in one year, only to find the following year the customer has been taken away by Royal Mail. Trouble is "understandings" are similar to "local agreements" in as much as they tend to be worth the paper they have been printed on, and only apply to one side. My guess is that most of the time the "understandings" are stuck to, but when an opportunity presents itself....................
I suppose this is a case of a POL Client manager (I don't get those as a subpostoffice, I suppose, I don't get anyone anymore, I do like it like that, I must admit) either lying, being misinformed, or assuming that RM and POL act as one big happy family helping one another out at every opportunity (I'm talking management level here, I love my delivery and collection guys, and like to think they love me too)
I think this may be why the RM propaganda we used to receive that covered all aspects of RM and POL have now been segregated. 'Equal, but seperate', is it ? Or 'Work makes you free' ? I know these are RM / POL cliches to live by. Can't remember which belongs to who though. Much easier for them to let PO staff and agents believe one thing, and RM staff another.
I have gathered considerable evidence that RM employees have breached RM / POL policy agreements. I have a number of damning e-mails and have self incriminating correspondence from the RM Company Secretary. I am in consultation with a litigation lawyer who also presides as a Judge. I am hoping to show that POL are complicit in the poaching of high volume postage users and demonstrate additional RMG motives. I know that 100s of you have been affected and that the usual reply to any complaint is that the customer made the initial contact. I have hard evidence which has been admitted by RM as well as evidence of breaches of the policy within Sorting/Mails offices. As well as through the forum, I can be contacted by e-mail at henianddave@aol.com
As chunk has said, "Watch & Win" is still promoted within delivery offices. We would have no idea if the customer was using a Post Office for a bulk posting unless we asked. We have not been told of any boundries to work within, just to try and get as many customers on board as we can.
Your saving grace is that we just don't have the time to do this anymore, we're up to our necks in it just trying to deliver what we've got.
