Post Office Letter from Paula Vennells
Do they think we are stupid????? Well, NO we are not......give yourself a big pat on the back Paula for giving yourself and managers and any one else come to think of it in the post office network a pay rise....EXCEPT of course your hardworking counter staff.. remember us??? Let me remind you... the ones that are making your money for you....getting sales and new custom....NOW do you remember???? We are not the suckers you think we are...fair treatment and a decent wages is what we want....WHATS SAUCE FOR THE GOOSE, IS SAUCE FOR THE GANDER. United we must stand...don't let them walk all over us........

Re: Post Office Letter from Paula Vennells
I wonder how much it cost to print these letters? Just shows they have money to waste when they want. And yes I am very disappointed with you if you thought we would say okay we won't have a pay rise this yet and next. I think you need to keep in touch with your front line staff. Also about having a comprehensive plan in place to maintain the PO branches when we are out on strike, don't make me laugh because let me tell you we have had two useless managers in our branch who have been moved about the business because they are on action plans have not a clue about the job except how to wear their badge saying manager. However that doesn't matter because you have money to throw at underperforming managers and give them a pay rise. How clueless are you.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Re: Post Office Letter from Paula Vennells
Do tell Paula, what is this "comprehensive plan to maintain a strong nationwide service..."?
You've got rid of all the usual numpties from support services etc who have you got left to scab?
Surely you haven't stooped as low as to rope in CWU represented grades from admin to cover on the counter? Has it really come to that?
Also, "...we will be working with all Post Office branches over the coming weeks to put this in place."
I do hope by that, you aren't going to be sending out the trusty lap-dogs from POL HQ. Visiting hither and tither telling us that striking was not the right thing to do. In 2007 it was awfully embarrassing, (I quite enjoyed it
), to watch them squirm and sweat under the barrage of questions that they were not primed for as they did not fall within POL diktat.
Finally, "Strike action will only undermine this opportunity [to build a sustainable business] as it will put us further behind the starting line."
Er, no it won't. You said it yourself. You started with a "comprehensive plan" but by the end of the letter it now looks like the old armpits are getting a bit clammy at the thought of all the errors, complaints and "missing money".
Can I leave you with one piece of solid advice? I don't want POL to think that I don't care. Whoever will be working on the strike days, make sure they know the bloody conference call numbers 'cos the whole world revolves around these.
If they don't happen.. well... I think Dr. Emmett Brown put it thus:
"It could create a time paradox, the result of which could cause a chain reaction that would unravel the very fabric of the space-time continuum and destroy the entire universe! Granted that's a worst case scenario. The destruction might in fact be very localized, limited to merely our own galaxy."
Scary stuff indeed.

I have not been on the receiving end of any form of communication, from any manager, at any level about the future of the industry I work in. I find that poor.

The mushroom approach to disseminating information by Royal Mail, POL and CWU HQs seems prevalent for most of us.The BFO wrote:I have not been on the receiving end of any form of communication, from any manager, at any level about the future of the industry I work in. I find that poor.
