Don’t meddle with the Post Offices in your Big Society Mr Cameron

ROYAL Mail managers may be revolting (i.e. planning strikes over job cuts), but the wider public concern must be that post offices survive any government privatisation plan.

If air mail letters and recorded delivery items are re-routed, post offices would lose £350m in commission – a third of their income.

The effect, particularly in country communities, would be disastrous.

It must not be allowed to happen. Not least because of the newly offered Post Office current accounts.

There are still 12,000 branches and 23 million customers. That's a big society for any government to offend.
