POST offices have been offered £60,000 to close down as part of Royal Mail's concerted bid to close thousands of branches, it has emerged.
The government is expected to give the green light to the closure of 2,500 post offices when the consultation is completed in March.
And subpostmasters are expected to receive similar "compensation" to the last round of closures - an average of £60,000 each.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Alternatives?
The assumption that is made is that Post Office have to close to become profitable. But that may not be allways the case as the consultation may show..
Where they do have to close- to break a contract compensation would normally be paid...

'Post Offices have to close to become profitable' ?
There have been several nails in the coffin of Post Offices already, loss of pension payments, sell off of Girobank, loss of TV license sales and water bill payments, etc. Might it be that Royal Mail don't really want even their main business, Joe Public posting letters packets and parcels - they do say they lose money on stamped letters, but make a profit on franked and PPI post.
