Who ya gonna call?... Q Buster!

Post by billyhayes »

Hope you are all looking forward to the WTL either on the 20th or the 27th of this month! :nana

This is where POL will reveal the details of their plans to reduce waiting times in branches, but WILL NOT be closing those branches that stay open after 12:30 on Saturdays any earlier.

Therefore those hours will not be able to be used during the week.

Seems our new 'man at the top' David Smith, nixed the idea that was supported by every man and his dog. :arrrghhh :arrrghhh :arrrghhh

I would hazard this is because he didn't want to start his new job by simply implementing someone else's idea, so he's put his own little mark on it.

A bit like the sort of mark you get in your pants when you don't wipe your arse properly. :Applause
If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it.

Well when he has busted your Q's I wonder how he is going to bust ours, cos us subbies can no longer afford to pay assistants, and will be laying loads off over the next 12 months, just so we can make ends meet.

A customer got so cross in our queue yesterday another customer left and came back today saying she was still shaking! It was only verbal but he stirred up the whole queue, the waiting time was 25 minutes.

Every business knows that customers are happier when they are served quickly, Tesco have a policy that if there's a queue then they instantly put more staff on the tills (and this includes managers) but how often would in happen in the PO.

I was in the St Martins Lane PO recently. It's the main Post Office in London.
It has ticket machines ansd setteees to sit on while you're waiting for your number to be called.
I only wanted an application form for a 16-18 year old Oyster (travel) card.
After waiting 25 minutes I had to give up and leave - at the speed the numbers were being called
it would have taken at least another 30 minutes before I would have got to the counter.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

In my area it happens more often than perhaps people realise. The problem is, however, that even with the managers on the counter it isn't enough to deal with the queue.

They do amuse me. They know they have completely mismanaged the business over the past few years, and ‘twill be mightily entertaining watching them try to sort it out. I hope we get another video message from Mr Barker, the anaesthetising effect of his little talks do wonders for my backache.

And he should wear a tie when he addresses me.

A joke from tuesdays work wtl and we are still laughinging about it now ' What is one solution the the business have come up with for Q busting? Answer 'Say thankyou to your customers for waiting.' It's the best joke we have heard in ages in our office. Its got us all smiling for a change.

Funny aren't they?
Just to take that one step further I remember one pearl of wisdom that the SEMs (remember those workhorses?) repeated on a regular basis.
As long as we thank customers for having waited and give them a polite and friendly service then it won't matter that they have waited for twenty minutes or more and then been offered a product that they neither need nor want when they are eventually served at the counter.
Okay so I've added the last bit but it's generally the same point- as long as we say "thank you for waiting" or words to that effect then everything in the post office is wonderful.
At least it gave you all a much needed (I guess?) laugh on yesterday.
I wonder if there will be any more comedy classics at 830am next Tuesday?

I am sorry but I think it’s a good idea, and in fact I would develop it a little further. Here is my suggested script, to be read in a Prince Charles accent:

‘Oh good morning/afternoon. How are you today? Have you been waiting long? One is so sorry, life can sometimes be such a bind, doesn’t one think? The queues in here can sometimes seem quite ghastly – absolutely GHASTLY. But do you know one has seen such incredible hardship elsewhere, really this is as nothing you know. I always think that one can look upon it as a queue, and one is always so busy, or one can look upon it as an OPPORTUNITY, to make new friends. Marvellous. Anyway, look here, thank you so much for waiting, it is so awfully nice of you, you cannot imagine how much we admire your fortitude, and bravery…’

To be said to every customer – that’ll ***k ‘em up.
