Suspensions, dismissals and reinstatements

Post by MinisterofCucumber »

More staff are being suspended nowadays. The appeal stage is really the last chance. Employment tribunals do not award much compensation and they cannot force reinstatement. Management would rather wrongfully dismiss someone and have to pay out at tribunal than have to pay wages until retirement and then pension.

The best thing is to keep on the right side of the conduct code. To do this you need to know the rules. You can access these on the intranet using a work PC only. Click on to the internet and you will be asked to validate your profile. Enter your NI and payroll numbers.

Appeals are won using evidence that a member of staff is being punished for doing the same thing that others have got away with.

If you feel that you are not being provided with the right equipment to do your job or your safety is being compromised, launch a grievance.

Good luck.

When I started I was given a Welcome booklet and had an induction dy but since then nothing, not even ever seen the Conduct Code so how is it possible to know what they are looking for other than the obvious theft and wilful delay ?

Please get access to the RM internet called the 'intranet'.

It's not in the union's interest for you to be clued up as this means that you won't need to use them so much.

It's in your interest to make sure that you avoid having to go through a distressful process just to keep surplus managers and union officials occupied.
