Alan Cook Spots the Iceberg!

Post by Running Man »

Is there anybody out there who is genuinely surprised that Alan Cook is stepping down as leader of POL?
This is the man who has waxed lyrical about his wonderful five year plan since 2006 and is now bailing out just four and a bit years into the plan which is allegedly going to bring POL back into profit by March 2011.
Is this not typical 'fatcat' behaviour? To instigate a plan which will untimately ruin a great British institution and then waltz off into consultancy work before the whole thing goes belly up?
This simply underlines why we are where we are as a business. The only people who genuinely care about our long term future are sat in Crown Offices day in and day out.
Rather than wait until May Alan Cook should step down now and be replaced by somebody with a new five year plan that is accompanied by a six year contract.
Having a lame duck as a leader is worse than having no leader.
No doubt Mr. Cook is very proud of his 'achievements' over the last four and a bit years.

I liked the part of his statement that said words to the effect of "I've been here a while now and I'd like a change".

Much laughter around the office as I added that we all felt the same.

Thanks Postal Officer.
Yes if you read his statement carefully there's actually a lot of comedy contained within it.
For example, the new person needs to start work on a new five year plan which I believe to mean "my plan isn't working and I'm off before things get really messy".
Also his commitment to "securing more Government funding" before he leaves.
Firstly he leaves in just over three months and even us minnows know how long these things tend to take where the Government is involved.
Secondly, and more importantly, does he actually give a toss whether or not we secure any funding given that he isn't goingto be around to face the consequences?
Personally I feel led down the garden path once more by yet another Senior Manager who has worked POL to secure his own personal agenda.
Good riddance to somebody who is clearly unable or unwilling to see the job through.
