Assertions:
1. You have to have a hell of a lot of "Conversations" to get not much interest.
2. The Financial Service Specialist project has been a damp squib, with most people being bright enough to realise they would be on a hiding to nothing if they took up the post.
3. The Bank of Ireland is in such a weak position that we will not have decent savings product for months, if at all this year.
4. The sum of money available to be wasted on Workshops, Focus Days, Sales Managers, etc. has to run out soon.
Discuss?
Best Wishes to all my colleagues..

Re: The End of The Sales Culture?
Agree with you on all of the above points. But we have a new breed of middle-management thinking that basically equates to 'short term managers make short term plans'.
Not one of them is looking to the horizon.
They are only interested on the NOW, as they are all going to be moved sideways, (or out), soon enough so none of them care about what's 1 or 2 years down the road.
It will be business as usual for the foreseeable future in their eyes. Must push credit cards when the country is trillions in debt, must push savings products that offer 0.1% interest, (coming soon!).
The funniest thing is local managements new robotic line is, "but we are still leading the market with rates on savings and our credit card is better than most".
Fookin wake up! If someone picks the sweetcorn out of a turd I still don't want to eat it cos it's still a turd, less the sweetcorn...

If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it.

Re: The End of The Sales Culture?
Agreed - I think the weakness has always been with the middle-management. Unfortunately, in very many cases, not all, self promotion and 'ambition' greatly exceeds ability. Although I go to work every day and look at the waste, I also think that if this were cut out some people would lose their jobs. I suppose all in all it's best just to keep your head down and get on with it. Nature will take it's course...
