I thought the latest a full-timer could start was 10:30......

If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it.

Re: 11:30 START?
New duties should be aligned to what is called 'customer flow'. Basically a machine tells Service and Efficiency when all the customers come through the doors and works out how many counter people are required to serve them. I can't remember anything specific about not starting after 10:30, but I will check that when I go in tomorrow. At my new office we have loads of duties that start well after 11:30, let alone 10:30, and as far as I am aware ours were agreed with the CWU who are normally pretty good at spotting things like that. Perhaps it was one of those famous 'local agreements' that seem to surface every now and then:) Presumably your duties have been changed to reflect more customers coming in the afternoon if you have late starts. It seems to be the trend in a lot of offices that we have more customers in the afternoon, or at least longer queues, which are not helped by the new processes for Special Delivery and Overseas stuff. It will clearly get worse when the PAF process is rolled out to Recordeds as well! Is that a problem in your office?billyhayes wrote:New duties came today... one of them had a 11:30 start for full timers on one of the days.
Is this allowed?

Could add an option on the P739 card to read 'Deliver item to nominated pub of your choice. Recipient agrees to buy postman a drink for his / her trouble'...Night Tonic wrote:Or how about delivering at night by torchlight. Roads are quieter, only marginally more troublesome - just the odd drunk. Specials might be tricky though.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

We have a duty that starts @ 10.30 and finishes around 16.30 but he does a collection on the way back to the office,Called flexability didnt know there was a later start than that for a D O .

Hey , yea, every office seems to be different. 10.30 -4.30 not bad! We have 1 collection guy who has silmilar hours, these times would not be good for a delivery of course.alangate wrote:Hi Madelin4madelin4 wrote:11.30AM???? is that for deliveries?? part - time i take it? Strange.![]()

11:30 Starts
Couldn't find anything anywhere about latest start times. The only thing I could unearth was minimum attendances of 4 hours on a weekday and 3.5hours on a Saturday, so with that in mind a 17.35 finish during the week could see you starting at 13.35! Clearly not everyone would like a duty like that, but if that is when the customers come in.........
