It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

So keep on moving, moving, moving your feet
Keep on shuf-shuf-shuffling to this ghost dance beat

Humour me here guys.

I take it if the link shows my MP as voting with the 'AYE' brigade, he's voted for closures ?

Hmmm. Then my local MP is saying one thing to the local newspaper and voting the opposite way in the house :evil/mad

Good job there's an email address to let the paper (and all it's readers) know what a scummy hypocritical Tory he really is :left:

No - if he voted Aye he was voting for the Tory motion opposing the closure programme.

I believe the vote was to suspend the closures so that it could be looked into, not actually stop them completely. As a bit of info the CWU was against the Conservatives Motion for one reason but the Postmaster were against it for a different reason see both quotes below:

CWU on opposition Post Office debate

The Communication Workers Union welcomes the parliamentary debate calling for the suspension of Post Office closures but wants to see franchising of Crown offices included and warns of short-sighted Tory plans which could lead to further break-up of the network.

Billy Hayes, General Secretary, said: “CWU believes the government has a key role to play in protecting the Post Office network. We have consistently called for the suspension of the closure and franchising programme and welcome the parliamentary debate on the issue. However, we are concerned that the Conservative Party does not have the best interests of the network at heart, as its policy effectively calls for it to be dismantled.

“The Post Office should be the gateway to government services for communities everywhere. It is vital that the Post Office network remains in public ownership as an integral part of Royal Mail Group. Public ownership and government investment is the only way that the network will have a viable future. It is a public service provision, not an industry bound by profit motives.

“We now call on the government to suspend the deeply unpopular closure and franchising programme and provide lasting investment to secure the future of the Post Office network. In particular establish a universal people’s bank and strengthen provision of postal, financial and government services. This is a vital and valued public asset which can no longer be neglected.â€
