Diary of intimidation JULY: All subpostmasters ordered to attend roadshows explaining how 2,500 branches will close over the next two years. Letter sent out gagging subpostmasters from openly talking about closures. Spies monitor compliance. AUGUST: No apology about first letter, but another is sent - this time explaining that almost everyone is threatened, including profitable branches. Targeted are rural branches within three miles of each other and urban branches within a mile of each other. AUGUST: Post offices warned that subpostmasters could expect further revenue cuts due to savaging of vital services, including banking and other products, plus a move towards more online sales. MID-SEPTEMBER: The first post offices to be axed announced. All areas are under threat, with six weeks of 'consultation' from announcement to closure. Kent and the Midlands first to be targeted for New Year closures.
So keep on moving, moving, moving your feet
Keep on shuf-shuf-shuffling to this ghost dance beat
Just keep on walking down never ending streets
