One of my girls brought in a letter from her local branch stating that the CWU were calling the counter staff out again Friday afternoon and all day on Saturday next week.
As I haven't heard this from my side (Admin don't work weekends) can anyone confirm or deny this?

So how's it been for you?
Seniorman - The industrial action has kind of been hit or miss at my place. I only have 5 on the counter (out of 14) and 1 in my PostShop who go out, so some days are worse than others. Our biggest problems have arisen because I have had to shoehorn everyone's leave into the calendar before our conversion date, so we have 3 on leave every week, plus 2 on sick and 1 on extended special leave, with only 2 reserves to cover it. Because we are a bigger office we just have to cope, but if a strike day falls badly for us we do get a bit busy! It has hit me personally because I have to keep giving up my days off to come in and serve on the counter! I have just done 2 back-to-back six-day weeks, and now with the new strikes announced the prospect of another. I can't claim overtime, so it will be time off in lieu, which if I can't claw it back before October, then I can claim docket. Not ideal, but sadly goes with the territory. Most of my team are fed-up with the strikes, but because we are so short-staffed I have been able to keep them topped-up with overtime so not many of them are out of pocket! The official line is no docket for strikers, but that was obviously dreamt up by someone who doesn't have to staff a counter week-in week-out.

What do you mean,if POL got fined i'm sure the strikers couldn't care less.armani wrote:Got my letter in Yesterday with the dates on it. Friday and saturday.
Just a pitty we don't have a regulator to step in and try to fine us so this can all stop like RM

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Thats just my point. We do not have anyone regulating our performance, other than managers, bdms etc.POSTMAN wrote:What do you mean,if POL got fined i'm sure the strikers couldn't care less.armani wrote:Got my letter in Yesterday with the dates on it. Friday and saturday.

You guys have Postcomm. I have it on good word ( RM employee) that the reason you guys are back working and no strikes until Sept some time is that Postcomm are either stepping in or about to due to service failures. That is why they have got you all working again and not us

Just as the Business and the union have been spinning their respective yarns. The truth in about it all is what I wrote above.
Dont believe all you are told by a person wearing a CWU badge.
POL are also In talks but like I said we cannot get fined so the union has decided to keep us striking.
Remember Disgruntled. We are the Pawns in this. Both the Union and the business can mess us around.
