What do you have to hide?
 :nervous

If i may,if anyone wants to 'out' themselves on here then you are welcome to PM Richard with your details. So he will then know who he is dealing with in the forum.
Anyone posting their name will be warned and have the details deleted.
It is near impoosible for you to prove who you are on here and yes it would be very easy for anyone to say they are Bob Smith from anytown BO.

No doubt you are aware that many Blue Shirts on here claim they are from certain DO's or MC'S,it is a lot harder to id them as most of these offices have dozens if not hundreds working there.

If you feel safe that you can name the office you work in then that's your call but as you are aware the amount of staff in any BO is limited.

Thanks.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

Now you have confused me! Does that mean I am NOT allowed to identify myself?

I was going to give the name of my cat.

A terrific and intelligent post from Billy Hayes, sorry i mean Adam i wait with anticipation to see what RWBarker replies. Can you stop going on about your identity now we know its you, i would glady tell you who i am but as we all know i would get bullied by the management team as i did when i filled out my personal developement review (PDR) because i said "i hated selling" but loved giving the public the professional and best advice and service over the counter, the manager didn't like it so i got pulled off the counter and told i was "totally unacceptable", oh well at least the customers love me and wait to be served by me because guess what they TRUST me.

If that is the case then Richard you're welcome to come and address the CWU meeting for Crown Office members of Merseyside Amal and put your case. It's next Thursday 17th February at 18:30. I'll be going straight there after a hard days work on the front line and no doubt so will many others. If you can find the time PM me and I'll make sure you're given the time to state your position.

The venue is:
The Crown Hotel
43 Lime Street
Liverpool
L1 1JQ

Hope to see you there. :angel
Come the mutualisation....

Dear Mr Barker, if you are genuinely serious about your contributions on this forum, and are prepared to enter an honest debate, then I will reveal my identity, providing you give me a clear unequivocal assurance that nothing I have said previously on this forum will be used in punitive action against me. For my part I accept that given your position, you may not be able to answer every point or question. I am simply looking for your viewpoint.

I apologise if I have been a little ‘robust’ towards you - some of my posts have been made out of a deep sense of frustration, and yes, sometimes, anger.

And by the way, I took you at face value right from the start!
Very happy to give that assurance. Richard

billyhayes wrote:OK Richard, if it's that simple... My name is Adam, I am an overpaid, underworked counter clerk in London. THAT is all you need.

A few sensible questions, which in turn would require sensible answers would be;

"WHICH offices are being franchised over the coming months?"

In other words "In a years time, what crowns will be left?"

"Do you intend to drive crown pay down by either a buydown option or just enforce a new hourly rate on all?"

It is out of the question that there will be no more crown conversions, every action made by POL over the last year has been gearing towards this one thing.

See, many hundreds of people in the crowns would like to know whether they need to start looking for jobs ASAP as it's hard enough getting any work that isn't part time.

There is no reason NOT to answer these questions, apart from "I know something you don't know."

This is peoples lives POL are messing with, it is not a game.

The only obsession in offices up and down the country is the answer to THESE questions.

You ask for sensible debate, it starts here.

WE ALL await your next posting with anticipation, free from any smoke, bluster, etc etc.
Re-post for the blatant ignore.

To be fair to Mr Barker. and perhaps he will confirm in due course, I don't think he has the authority to resolve this on his own. As I understand it, such power lies a little further up the food chain.

The BFO is right - resolution of this dispute is not something I have the authority to do.

Never mind the strike, for gods sake answer Billy's post whats the matter with you are you in government being a politician.I think all the management team think they are better than the hard working staff on the counter, by god you are all in for a shock when we go on strike, and we will because we are fed up and demoralised by a management team that includes you.Its always are fault never yours,we are overpaid not you, sell to customers all day long not you,try and rip them off sending special delivery not you, sell them foreign currency at rubbish rates not you, we are not meeting targets its all our fault, well just wait till we go on strike and the managers are serving(Strike breakers) it will be your fault.OVERPAID how dare you with the salaries you earn, you make my blood boil and answer peoples questions about their job security its alright for the managers in there very high ivory towers with there very high wages. :mad

I could go on like this forever... It would do a lot for your credibility if you were to just 'man up' a bit and answer the questions.

It reminds me of Jeremy Paxman a few years ago, when he was making that politician look like a complete tosser by repeating "Did you threaten to over-rule him?" over and over... :dance :dance :dance

POSTMAN EDIT:Can you PM this to him please,i have already spoken about this.

Perhaps you would be so kind as to comment on the following please. I think I already know what you will say to a few of these questions, but perhaps it would be good to clarify the position:

1. Who says we should make a profit, and what about the social need of the service we offer? Is the National Health Service profitable?
2. If you accept that Crown Offices should be run on purely commercial lines, then how is ‘Income’ attributed, and is it done so appropriately – the obvious example being the difference in Travel Money Margins, and the ‘Income’ attributed to the Branch. There are other questionable items in this regard.
a. Quote: ‘What you have to remember is that Firstrate is a joint venture between POL and Bank of Ireland. So, any profit made on foreign currency business is distributed at the end of the year 50: 50 between the two companies. The Crown network gets it's share based on the percentage of total travel money business which the 370 branches transact......and still we lose money!’ So who negotiated that contract, given that the majority of the work involved is conducted at the Branch?
3. Further, if we are not to be credited fully for our ‘Social Role’ then why do we continue servicing the needs of the ‘Financially Less Sophisticated’, and less able in society?
4. Why should we pay the price for mismanagement? We all see daily huge waste, caused by poor direction.
5. Ms Vennells cites wide disparity in Throughputs across Crown Offices, and implies this is our problem, when clearly Senior Management has failed to keep this under control. I suspect the poorest performing offices in terms of Throughput will be the ‘Flagships’:
a. Ticket Machines – cause a delay between calling for a customer, them awakening from their slumbers on the sofa, and arriving at the counter.
b. Financial Specialists – Of dubious value in terms of Income, and a disaster in terms of generating ‘Basic Transaction Hours’, which I assume are still being used to calculate Throughputs.
c. Meeter and Greeters – very pleasing aesthetically, but of almost zero contribution in terms of efficiency.

Finally, perhaps you could give an overview of the current position of the Crown Office Network as you see it?

Thank you for your time.

Paul.

Personal Message duly sent – don’t understand why my personal detail were deleted, Mr Barker has been allowed to identify himself, not very egalitarian is it? And this identity stuff is becoming tedious in the extreme!
