The CWU and POL are currently in talks about the reward structure for FS's.

It would not surprise me if within the next 6 to 12 months they use these trained counter clerks for all future sales, (all they need is accreditation, same as the FS grade), then any FS in post will just be on the counter. Of course they would keep the extra grand they're on, but on marked time until the CSC grade catches up.

Most of them are only on 12month contracts, the FS in our office is new so the postoffice might not renew any contracts after that time and as someone pointed out it would save POL alot of pennies.

If that is the case then so be it. I have thought about that before, but my aim in life isn't to be a Financial Specialist, so I will accept it if it does happen and move on.

I really don't get why any comment I get is a personal attack, I am making far from that at anyone. I can't speak about any type of person but I am misrepresented as having said everyone on the counter is old, fat and lazy. Really childish and bullying tactics here - are you really so confident in your stance if you have to resorlt to this?

The FS grade could go - the role was designed to be a quick fix and that didn't work out as such, and they are trying to implement specialists for each area. I think the reluctance of some counter staff (please note I did not say all) to take on or focus on an extra role may scupper these plans, as may the contract with BOI to have specialists in place to sell the products. BOI will have some say in deciding whether or not the FS role goes.

I would also love to be earning the £35k you think FS earn up to! We get counter staff wage + £1000 and no real commission scheme, I mean there is one there but I don't know anyone who has made money on it. I like to hope that the CWU will get us a good commission scheme, however as we are started the financial year without one in place, I would doubt it. The official line was to try our hardest to hit the targets for the new scheme, although they haven't been decided yet - makes me hopeful.

Can't wait to see what attacks and insults I have hidden in my post that I was unaware of, I am sure I will read about them over the next few posts on here. Perhaps I was taking digs at the disabled? Or saying that counter staff make Jesus cry?

Yes, this is a little known fact. It is the contract with the Bank of Ireland (almost fallen into full state ownership, what an irony that would be), rather than the effectiveness of the Financial Specialist role that governs how many we have.

I would just like to point out one thing... I am surrounded by people in my office who are either old, fat or lazy. Or a mixture of all three.

For example, TrueBlueTerrier, I certainly didn't say "They are no use any more so throw them on the scrap heap". I said that there exists a particular type of person in most offices who don't want their job anymore because they think they have dedicated themselves to the business long enough.

I also did not say you said that - what I did was take your point to a ludicrous degree to point out what i thought was valid point . I thought that was a recognised method of debate, certainly it has been used on me in RMC and during debates over a few pints, the politicians are particularly adept at it. If however, I caused offense then I apologise.

I don't think people ignore posts they feel uncomfortable with, on here most would respond to it. I think they ignore posts or parts of posts which they see as unimportant or of no interest to them, or that they see no reason to respond to, they may even not respond because they agree it the post. After all it would be boring having one post followed by a 7 posts saying "I agree".

I think you need a holiday financialspecialist as someone pointed out it is a forum for everyone to express their views, its nothing personal everyone has different views thats what makes it an interesting debate right or wrong it doesn't matter because POL take no notice anyway. People are just getting therapy online and saving the postoffice a fortune in stress busting or do i mean Q- busting.
