Then I hope to see him walk past my picket line in the coming weeks, supporting all his overpaid, underworked strikebreaking managers on the counter. :cuppa

I think you should leave Mrs Barker out of this - she has enough to put up with living with me, without getting abuse on here. Still very happy to discuss pay (or anything else for that matter) but not on public forum. Administrator saw fit to remove my 'phone number (but left the personal abuse, I note). Mobile number is easily found on intranet. Richard

I know it's not polite, but just in the interest of furthering the debate ,would you be prepared to let all know what your basic salary plus bonus amounts to :Very Happy I'm sure you have nothing to hide and can justify all remuneration, but it might add perspective, don't you think

Is your salary not on public record then ? :hmmmm
Fair enough you choose to with hold detailed info. , but just to put your initial statement in context and in the interest of advancing the discussion you could answer 1 general question
Is your salary closest to ;
A) £80 K
B) £100 K
C) £120 K
D) £ 167.5 K :angel

I do understand your not understanding ,but bare with me. When you claim
in common with other senior managers inthe Royal Mail Group, I have not had a pay rise for the last two years. Richard
It may well be true and honest (leaving out your pension accruements ,of course), but a pay freeze on £160k will not be half as painful as a pay freeze on £ 8-£16K. Take a drop to £16K ,that will give you a better insight into the day to day business operation,Knowledge is inconvenient ?

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

There are a couple of things I don’t understand:

1. How a senior leader can be so out of touch with his front line subordinates and the actual business they conduct.
2. Why said person should make himself known on this forum, be so obsessed with proving his identity, and then make no worthwhile contribution whatsoever.

It's not me that's obsessed with my identity!! It's everyone else wanting me to prove it.

Stupidly, I thought this forum might be a place where there would be some serious and possibly thoughful debate about some of the issues we all face.

Clearly I was wrong. I won't waste my time any further.

There are many arguments in our favour, amongst them:

1. Who says we should make a profit, and what about the social need of the service we offer? Is the National Health Service profitable?
2. If you accept that Crown Offices should be run on purely commercial lines, then how is ‘Income’ attributed, and is it done so appropriately – the obvious example being the difference in Travel Money Margins, and the ‘Income’ attributed to the Branch. There are other questionable items in this regard.
3. Further, if we are not to be credited fully for our ‘Social Role’ then why do we continue servicing the needs of the ‘Financially Less Sophisticated’, and less able in society?
4. Why should we pay the price for mismanagement? We all see daily huge waste, caused by poor direction.
5. Ms Vennells cites wide disparity in Throughputs across Crown Offices, and implies this is our problem, when clearly Senior Management has failed to keep this under control.

I did ask before...

Look, you can't come on here and claim to be someone and not confirm it.
You could be anyone.
You can have serious discussions on here but you could be the cleaner from some PO.
No offence to cleaners btw.

Now get real and prove who you are,so the guys on here can talk to you accordingly.
It aint hard is it!
