We have been told the week before christmas has been blocked off, we are still not happy about it POL moving the goal-posts again. The union rep said "its at the managers discretion if anyone wants time off", what does that mean? if its not on the holiday rota no-one can pick it. More staff will go off sick and it will cost them money in the end for not being flexible, i wouldn't blame anyone for going sick.

So does anyone know what's happening with this then? I bet it will end up with some offices allowing it and others not so lucky.

To quote the King Arthur character on the Sky advert - "That sounds like a plan!"

Sad to say, you are right.

The COSA agreement surely states the 4 weeks prior to the week with xmas day in it should be blocked off. As xmas day is on a sunday, shouldn't the week of the 19th be open? My union rep says he is unable to get an answer on this. Meanwhile the list is going around. Is this just another issue to grind us all down i ask myself?
I have a copy of the Annual Leave List for my office in front of me, and week commencing 19 December 2011 has not been 'blocked' - indeed two people have booked it.
Three weeks to christmas and alot of staff have booked this week, but we have had an e-mail from the top saying under no circumstances can any staff or managers have this week off, how long have we been discussing this on the forum typical post-office leaving it to the last minute again and the union agreeing with POL saying can you be flexible and cancel your leave. I would be absolutely furious if it was me, but then you have another scenario why should some members get that week off and other staff can't its not fair. It was february at a meeting in Liverpool when one of the staff in our office mentioned it to RW.Barker he said "he would get back to us ", but he then left the business or was sacked not sure. :Very Happy

Pushed out for getting chummy with us lot.

Just go sick. Simples.

Who told your BM she can't have it off. Our BM takes days off at a moments notice. This included last Monday. She decided on the day!

The latest email I saw about annual leave this xmas said although no-one was allowed to take leave this week, there would be some flexibility towards the end of the week, to enable some owed time to be taken if poss. I really can't remember reading anything about making up leave reserve duties to cover the er non busiest time of the week etc. You poor thing BFO, surely though you managed admirably given your true professionalism....

Forgot to mention our visiting 'Meeter and Greeter', who smiled bravely at the customers, whilst standing next to the broken (yet again) Post and Go machine. He performed excellently, selling six whole books of First Class stamps.
