I sincerely hope not..however if that's what it takes, not forgetting of course that by staggering the strikes we crippled royal mail to the point where for the moment at least they have been forced in to renegotiations with the union..a move that they were adamant they were not prepared to entertain.I don't expect r.m would be stupid enough to try and push the strike over the festive season, more fool them if they do.PostmanPat1961 wrote:With respect our disputes are similar but i think they have to be fought seperately because we are talking seperately to different companies within a very big company. We are not paid to get involve with the Politics. Some people need to get back in their cubicle and stop reading into the big picture. I do not need any confidence or capability support with my job as I have enough of both to see me through.BELIAL wrote:
What holds you back Armani is a complete lack of knowledge. You totally fail to perceive the the wider issues including the political dimension. There is a world outside your cubicle and like it or not it is political.
I am starting to realise just how much YOU need support regarding your confidence and capability.
I am also sure that Eichman issued "a clear code of practise", but i don't think it reduced animosity.
If you are for real please seek professional help, Largactyl may work.
Is this guy you Postman, just upping the posts and providing a comic diversion. If so ,well done.![]()

If it was up to me to get in on the politics and running of the business I wouldn't be called a Postal Officer and I'd be on a substancial lot more than £18K

Do you really believe that there would be the same support come the festive period. I've been speaking to a few colleagues from other offices who are already feeling the pinch and thats before we go to full day strikes. I can't see people continuing with IA when there is no end game in sight. Certainly not for that longpistol wrote:I sincerely hope not..however if that's what it takes, not forgetting of course that by staggering the strikes we crippled royal mail to the point where for the moment at least they have been forced in to renegotiations with the union..a move that they were adamant they were not prepared to entertain.I don't expect r.m would be stupid enough to try and push the strike over the festive season, more fool them if they do.PostmanPat1961 wrote:With respect our disputes are similar but i think they have to be fought seperately because we are talking seperately to different companies within a very big company. as i said to you the first night you came on,you asked a question, well within your right..then you tried to specify the genre of people who could answer? You would always get other people's opinions on an open forum, you dismissed thiers/ours.You also seemed to be defending the management whilst berating the reasons behind the strike. This caused the initial animosity, from there it quickly spiralled in to a cheap slanging match. You, i'm afraid to say come across as very aloof, your'e posts reek of it,this too will anger many people, like i said previously..a shot of humility wouldn't go amiss.armani wrote:Come on pistol, look back to page 1. What was the very first response I got? Welcome all views? Maybe thats rich coming from a forum with members that rip into someone right away even when they don't really know what the person thats posting is posting for. I believe this is the companies game plan, drag talks out,the closer to xmas we get the more resolve will dissipate, this is where we and you must be strong together, the use of this forum is an ideal bridge between us for that very purpose, they(the company)cannot uphold a strike scenario over xmas, public outrage i believe will force government intervention, either way we win as the people that benefit most are the public, sure we lose money, but the company lose public support and they lose face which is worth more to them than a paltry £60 or so.armani wrote:Do you really believe that there would be the same support come the festive period. Public outrage? Nobody is interested in the strikes. Its not on the news or in the papers there is no support for either side. The public will find another way to do their business. We are no longer a relied business. P.O. customers can go elsewhere for services R.M. customers/clients can also go through other routes.pistol wrote:I believe this is the companies game plan, drag talks out,the closer to xmas we get the more resolve will dissipate, this is where we and you must be strong together, the use of this forum is an ideal bridge between us for that very purpose, they(the company)cannot uphold a strike scenario over xmas, public outrage i believe will force government intervention, either way we win as the people that benefit most are the public, sure we lose money, but the company lose public support and they lose face which is worth more to them than a paltry £60 or so.
The Business and CWU are spiralling downwards rather quickly. By the time its sorted we will have lost a lot of business to other less volatile companies

Postcomm was set up and pretty much shafted RM. I remember a couple of yrs ago it was costing £1.04 to deliver £1 worth of mail and they only just allowed 1p on a stamp.
Govt. shafted us, opened up benefit work and dvla.
Thats the history its happened. We cannot do anything to sort that. However we can dig in and do as much as we can to make our companies the best and give customers the choice to come back.
With all this action they are moving away very quickly. We are no longer the superpower that everyone was loyal to

armani you didn't read it properly did you
CWU assistant secretary Andy Furey said: "We want our members to work for a successful, financially viable Crown office network. For that to happen it is obviously imperative that as many products are sold as possible.
"However, the CWU will not tolerate its members being put under any pressure to 'hard sell'. We also accept that selling skills do not come naturally to everyone. This code of practice will ensure that everyone will be treated fairly and consistently, with enhanced training and support for all our members.
"It would have been irresponsible for the union to ignore the realities post offices have to face if they are to be successful in the 21st century. But it would have been even more irresponsible if we had not ensured our members were protected through a transitional time, and equipped with the necessary skills to provide the excellent level of service the public have always received from them."
A Sales and Profit Incentive Sceme was introduced in 2005's pay agreement, which gives employees the chance to gain additional bonus payments based on the amount of focus products their office sells. The targets are team based - not individual.
Andy added: "I am confident that the code of practice, and the extra training it provides, will lead not only to the sale of more products but greater bonuses for our members."
where here does it say you have to do the hard sell read it again ' armani ''1961' i know thats a long passage and your tired sitting down all day selling your ars* off but think you have the contex of it wrong .read the passage about hard sell don't think it's that difficult to understand perhaps you might have to read it a few times though![]()

Now here is one point to note..We are in face to face conversation with the public every day and believe me..there is more public support than you might think, even on this very website we have members of the public coming in to ask about the strikes and what they can do to help,on our deliveries, i personally have had several people ask if there are any petitions they can sign, ask a user on this forum a chap called"bexhil palace" how many signatures he has accrued in support of us(US being plural) these people talk, they in turn talk to others, even without the media word of mouth will be our weapon, why do you think so many people on here were disappointed at the strike suspensions? because the "spoken word" was just gathering a nice impetus when all of a sudden it is halted prematurely..come xmas if the strikes are ongoing that momentum will be increased 10 fold.government will be forced to be seen to be halting them or risk angering millions of voters.I can't see big Gordon happy to do that..can you?armani wrote:Public outrage? Pistol, with respect. I also speak to my fair share of the public. I also know of an office in the 70 that had a petition going.pistol wrote:Now here is one point to note..We are in face to face conversation with the public every day and believe me..there is more public support than you might think, even on this very website we have members of the public coming in to ask about the strikes and what they can do to help,on our deliveries, i personally have had several people ask if there are any petitions they can sign, ask a user on this forum a chap called"bexhil palace" how many signatures he has accrued in support of us(US being plural) these people talk, they in turn talk to others, even without the media word of mouth will be our weapon, why do you think so many people on here were disappointed at the strike suspensions? because the "spoken word" was just gathering a nice impetus when all of a sudden it is halted prematurely..come xmas if the strikes are ongoing that momentum will be increased 10 fold.government will be forced to be seen to be halting them or risk angering millions of voters.I can't see big Gordon happy to do that..can you?armani wrote:Public outrage? There was more people signing the petition than using the office. I also know of MP's campaigning to keep offices open. However they never use their local offices.
People are people, give them something to get involved in for a good cause and they'll jump at the chance. Ask your customers how many of them have frequented a P.O. in the last week or when they last sent a couple of letters. Im sure you'll find very few.
Ask how many now email relatives and do their car tax online and im sure you'll get a higher response.
People get involved in petitions etc just because its a moral thing to do. Like their good deed for the day
