If one of you guys wants to write out a where the feck is everyone/your concerns email type thing then i'll mass email the group.
You can pm me it if you want.
I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

I was here for the first round when there were over 1500 Crown Offices. They used to say 'they'll only do the small offices and will stop when they get to 1000'. Then there was a figure of 650 and 'it will be the large offices that go'. In recent years I have heard a figure of 250. In that time there has been a steady erosion of working conditions, and Terms and Conditions of employment. I don't particularly bemoan that, it's life - there are many people far worse off in the world than me. But at the same time I am reluctant to get caught up in the hysteria over 'The Post Office Story', and the 'Sales Agenda'.

The main fact that I can't get away from is I now spend most of my day looking out at an empty office. But hey, "There's no chance of VR". Yeah, ok.

Datestamp Trish, it would appear that some of us in the network may have got the wrong end of the stick if all we feel is gloom and doom, perhaps you would care to enlighten us as to the 'facts'.

So for those of us who work at the sharp end of the Post Office network , manning the counters, what do we have to look forward to?

You don't have anything to look forward to. We have a member of the gestapo as a manager.....we have to sell ice to the eskimos.....special delivery to people who only want a 1st class stamp....we have to be polite to people who are down right rude to us. We get hauled over the coals if we don't talk parrot fashion to customers. I used to enjoy my job but not anymore....I have given in my notice and I am going to do a less paid job but will be happier for it. I've objected for a long time to the bully boy selling tactics of the Post Office and eventually decided that I no longer wanted a part of it. I feel sorry for those of you who have no choice than to stay there because you have to.... when all you want to do is leave. In our office there are at least 5 staff who would leave tomorrow if they could afford it. Good bye my friends....I am going to a much better place, maybe I will see you there soon. :dance :thumbup

The only cost saving Pol can make is Staff Costs.

Come 1st April we will all be transfered (TUPE) to the new company on existing terms and wages.

If the new Pol then pleads financial doom and can only save jobs by slashing wages then they can justify a wage decrease for everyone to save jobs (not breaking TUPE rules)

We have no choice in the matter and Pol management get what they have been wanting for years Counter Clerk paid same as bank clerk

Our jobs may be quite safe if no other company wants to take on Crowns but we will be doing the same job for a lot less money

Which is why I find this 'Post Office Story' gloss so odious. Brainwashing for the masses.

Couldn't have put is so succinctly myself.
What POL and CWU fail to realise is that some of us are a bit more 'clued up' as to how TUPE works and therefore can see whats coming.
if we're gonna get buggered its probably better to lube up and grit your teeth rather than it take you by surprise with your head in the sand...

Just how much money is being wasted on The Post Office Story?

For most of us it started as a happy story but is close to a tragic end!!!

Datestamp Trish , please, please tell us where we are going wrong, why should crown office staff and sub post-masters & staff be looking forward with glee to the future?

"Fools," said I, "you do not know,
Silence like a cancer grows.
Hear my words that I might teach you.
Take my arms that I might reach you."
But my words like silent raindrops fell,
And echoed in the wells of silence...

:shhhhh :silenced

I don't know what the future holds but then I am not making negative predictions and quoting them as facts. I do know that the business are stating that there current strategy for the network is not a 'Closure programme' but a transformation and that they are keen to 'build' not 'dismantle'. Although this is still ambiguous it still should give some reassurance. At present the CWU and POL are in Crown Transformation talks and this is still work in progress and therefore there is nothing to tell whilst these are ongoing. This is normal practice in negotiations.

With regards TUPE this has not changed anything as the business could have taken executive action before and attempted to slash wages but they would have had a unionised workforce to contend with. This has not changed as with TUPE, the union takes recognition rights over also. The safest guard to your terms and conditions is a strong union and that is what we have in the CWU.
